Janice May, Associate

 

Image of Janice MayJanice May’s first steps in the practice of law thrust her into the challenging arena of government property taxation and collection.  Well-versed in the art of compromise and negotiation, Ms. May’s concentration soon shifted to commercial litigation, where her attention to detail and quick grasp of legal principals rapidly evolved into an expertise for developing case and trial strategy when negotiation failed.  Her international travels have allowed Ms. May to become familiar with diverse areas, including the Environmental Protection Act and Canadian family, class action, personal injury, fair housing, immigration, and Charter (constitutional) law.   As the point woman, Ms. May has proven to be a skillful advocate and negotiator who develops connections and not just contacts.  

Ms. May earned her law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2002. Prior to attending law school, Ms. May earned a degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin.            

Ms. May’s primary areas of practice include Civil Litigation, Deceptive Trade Practices, Family Law, Juvenile Law and Immigration.              

Ms. May is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association, Arlington Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers’ Association, and the State Bar of Texas. Ms. May is admitted to practice in all State Courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.            

Ms. May is actively involved in many cultural organizations. She is currently the Vice-President-Administration for the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of North Texas and a member of the Filipino-American Association of North Texas, Inc. She was formerly a Contributing Author with The Texas Herald newspaper and a previous member of the Tarrant County Asian-American Chamber of Commerce.

In her spare time, Ms. May enjoys reading, knitting, outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends and traveling. In addition to having 2 dogs of their own, Ms. May and her husband are foster parents for Kingdom’s Treasures Dog Rescue.
